Commercial Painters Townsville
Master Painters Association award winners for commercial work in Townsville.
Commercial painting in Townsville means working around people. Hotels keep guests, shopping centres keep trading, schools keep teaching and warehouses keep moving freight while the painters are on site. DHPainting has handled that balancing act on Townsville commercial projects for more than 15 years, and our commercial team is built around planning, communication and access equipment as much as around brushes and rollers.
Our work on the Townsville Convention Centre took first place in the Queensland wide commercial repaint category at the Master Painters Association awards, competing against the best painting companies in the state. The judges singled out the preparation, workmanship and attention to detail of our Townsville team, led on that project by David Spampinato. The same crew has painted Mount View Market Place, the Kalamia Hotel at Ayr, the Townsville Youth Hub, CQUniversity, Mainfreight's Townsville depot and Saint Andrews Church.
We are a Taubmans Trade Partner with qualified texture and membrane coating applicators on staff, so protective coatings, render repairs and waterproofing can be delivered by the same team as the paint. Every commercial project is backed by our 10-year workmanship warranty.
Commercial coatings for a tropical, coastal city
Commercial buildings in Townsville face the same climate as homes but on a bigger scale and with less tolerance for downtime. A faded, chalking facade on Flinders Street or Palmer Street is bad for a business, and a leaking rendered parapet on a shopping centre can close shops. We specify coating systems for commercial work on their durability first: high-build exterior acrylics for facades, elastomeric membranes on parapets and flat roofs, texture coatings on tired render and two-pack or epoxy finishes in loading docks and back-of-house areas that get knocked about.
The other difference is scheduling. Most of our commercial work in Townsville is done in stages, after hours or across quiet periods, with access equipment positioned so customers and staff are never walking under a working painter. We own our spider boom and all-terrain scissor lift, which means less waiting on hire companies and tighter programs.
- High-build UV-resistant facade systems for north and west elevations
- Membrane and texture coatings on render, parapets and blockwork
- Hard-wearing two-pack and epoxy finishes for docks and service areas
- Mould-resistant interior finishes for air conditioned spaces
- Staged, after-hours and shutdown programs around trading

How we run a commercial painting project
Commercial clients need a program they can trust and a site that stays safe and open. This is how we deliver it.
- Step 1
Site inspection and scope
An estimator meets your facilities manager or owner on site, walks every area to be painted, identifies repairs and access issues and prepares an itemised quote with the coating system specified.
- Step 2
Program and safety plan
We agree a staged program around your trading hours, prepare the safe work method statements your site requires and plan where lifts, scaffolds and exclusion zones will go.
- Step 3
Preparation and repairs
Surfaces are washed, mould and chalking are removed, render is patched and sealed, rust is treated and failed sealants are replaced. Preparation is where award-winning work is decided.
- Step 4
Coating application
The specified system is applied in full coats by brush, roller or spray, with each stage inspected before the next begins and the site left clean and safe at the end of every shift.
- Step 5
Handover and warranty
You receive a final inspection walk-through, our 10-year workmanship warranty and the handwritten sign-off sheet that we publish on our Review Heat Map.

Commercial Painters Townsville: common questions
Can you paint while our business stays open?
Yes. Most of our Townsville commercial work is done with the business trading. We stage the job by area, work after hours or on quiet days where needed and set up exclusion zones so customers and staff are kept clear of lifts and wet paint.
Do you have the safety paperwork our site requires?
Yes. We prepare safe work method statements, our team holds working at heights and elevated work platform tickets and we own our own spider boom and scissor lift. We regularly work on sites with formal inductions and permit systems.
What is the award you mention?
Our work on the Townsville Convention Centre won first place in the Queensland wide commercial repaint category at the Master Painters Association awards. It was judged against the best painting companies in the state on preparation, workmanship and attention to detail.
Do you do protective coatings and render repairs as well as paint?
Yes. We have qualified texture and membrane coating applicators on the team, so waterproofing membranes, texture coatings and minor render repairs are done by the same crew. Mount View Market Place is an example where painting, coatings and rendering were delivered together.
How far outside Townsville will you travel for commercial work?
We regularly work in Ayr and the Burdekin, Charters Towers and the northern beaches. For larger projects we will travel further across North Queensland. Call the office and we will tell you quickly whether a site is within reach.
Do you offer maintenance painting programs?
Yes. For hotels, shopping centres and body corporates we can set up a rolling program that repaints high-wear areas on a schedule, which spreads the cost and keeps the property looking consistent year round.
